Changes to EPIC PressReader subscription model for 2017-2018
7 February 2017
Over the last few years, PressReader have provided two subscription models for EPIC member libraries to subscribe to PressReader (previously known as Library PressDisplay). The unlimited user model and the simultaneous user model.
PressReader have informed me that they are no longer able to offer the simultaneous user model.
The reason for this is that the new PressReader platform does not support simultaneous user access. When PressReader upgraded to the new platform, they honoured the existing simultaneous user subscriptions for the remainder of the subscription period while providing those subscribers with unlimited user access to the new platform.
As the pricing difference between the simultaneous user model and the unlimited user model (based on population served or EFTS) could be quite significant for those organisations that are currently using the simultaneous user model (particularly those with 2 or 3 simultaneous user licenses) PressReader are offering a phased plan for these libraries to move to the new model. I will be sending these plans directly to the key contact for each of these libraries for review.
I currently have this pricing on hand for EPIC member public libraries and will send this information out to you over the next couple of days. The tertiary and special library pricing should also be coming shortly and I will do the same for you once it comes through.
If your library is an existing EPIC PressReader unlimited user subscriber or your library is interested in pricing for a new subscription in the 2017-2018 EPIC subscription year, the pricing will be posted through the secure ProQuest subscription pricing options page for your library sector. Public Library pricing has been posted today. Tertiary and Special Library pricing will be available shortly.
